Billy Connolly gets cancer all-clear

The Big Yin, 70, was back in his native city on the day of Celtic’s ­Champions League clash with ­Barcelona after being given the all-clear by doctors.

The comic revealed his good news as he was questioned about the big match, which Barcelona won 1-0.

He told Sky Sports News: “I got the clearance on Wednesday on my cancer, so I’m OK.”

Connolly was diagnosed with “the very early stages of prostate cancer” last month and had surgery in the US, where he lives most of the time with wife Pamela Stephenson, 63.

Like all patients who undergo cancer operations, the Scots funnyman faced a worrying wait for tests to confirm if surgeons had successfully removed his tumour. And yesterday he confirmed the good news.

It came as a relief after a double health blow when the former Govan shipyard worker was also told he had Parkinson’s disease.

His spokeswoman said at the time: “Billy Connolly recently underwent minor surgery in America after being ­diagnosed with the very early stages of prostate cancer. The operation was a total success.

“In addition, Billy has been assessed as having the initial symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, for which he is receiving the appropriate treatment.

“Billy has been assured by experts that the findings will in no way inhibit or affect his ability to work.”

Parkinson’s, a breakdown of the central nervous system, can lead to  shaking and memory loss.

The former Clyde shipyard welder admitted he had started to forget his lines during performances earlier this year and said at the time: “This is f*****g terrifying. I feel like I’m going out of my mind.”

The assymetrical garment showed off her slender frame and proved that Sandra can look just as good as a woman half her age.

The pair play surviving astronauts in the film who end up in a damaged space shuttle, after debris from a satellite crashes into it leaving it mostly destroyed.

Their characters are therefore stranded in space with limited air, and without means of communication with Earth, they must cooperate to survive.

Wayne and Coleen Rooney let their hair down as they don comedy wigs in photo booth

But it looks as though the pair had a whale of a time at a friend's wedding last weekend, where they took the opportunity to have some fun in a Photo-Booth, with hilarious results.

The couple - who have been married for xx years - showed off their fun sides as they donned an array of comedy wife and hats in the booth, which was hired specifically for the wedding.

Making light of his hair transplant trouble, which has won almost as much attention as his football skills, the Manchester United striker donned four different hats, including a curly white wig and an Elvis quiff.

Coleen managed to still look glamorous, despite the addition of comical accessories, in a snake print dress and simple ponytail hair do.

Cosying up together in the booth, the pair looked happier than ever as they joked around and Wayne even managed a rare smile for his wife.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Coleen is currently using Technoshape - a fat blitzing stomach belt - to get back to her pre-baby figure.

The star - who gave birth to Klay in May - is said to have sign up fr a course of sessions using the machine, which has been dubbed a "non-surgical tummy tuck."

A spokesman for the exercise machine, which costs £37 per session, said: "Alongside her usual aerobic workout, Coleen Rooney is using Technoshape to enhance the fat-burning process around her tummy. 

"Coleen was introduced to Technoshape by Elise Lindsay. She is using the machine for her mummy tummy, which is exactly the kind of thing it was designed for.

Coleen tweeted about the machine last week, writing: 'First @techno_shape session with @EliseLindsay77 this morning!!

The Luther star is seen with a head of grey hair on the new poster for the film, which celebrates Nelson Mandela's journey from childhood to old age.

The film, directed by Justin Chadwick, sees Idris Elba take the role of the iconic political leader, and Naomie Harris (Skyfall, 28 Days Later, Pirates of the Caribbean) as his former wife Winnie.

Elba, who has previously been lauded for roles in The Wire, Luther and Pacific Rim, labelled the role as the "biggest honour" of his life, and is already being tipped for an Oscar nomination.

He said: "It remains humbling, even after I have made the film. I have to pinch myself - 'Is that really real?' I am just a fella from east London."

However, he also revealed that playing the political titan was a "massive challenge."

He said: "It was important we had both sides, the good and the bad.

"I didn't want to deface Mr Mandela in any way, but I didn't want to portray him in a way that wasn't honest… the challenges were massive, but we embraced them.

"He had a very difficult life, so we weren't expected to make an easy film."

Long Walk to Freedom is a chronicle of Mandela's life, from his childhood in a rural village, to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa.

Paul Hollywood and estranged wife tweet friendly messages on their son's birthday

The pair were exchanging messages on the social networking site yesterday, regarding their son Josh's birthday, and one even included a smiley face.

It seems the pair could be attempting to get their marriage back on track, or are at least on civil terms for the sake of their son.

Earlier on in the day, Alexandra tweeted a photo of a bacon sandwich with the caption: "Joshy's Birthday! Only fitting to have Bacon & egg sarnie, melon, OJ & strawberries!"

Shortly after, Paul was keen to acknowledge his son's special day too and posted: "And a huge Happy Birthday Josh x @Hollywood_wife."

He later added: "Nice birthday eve dinner for Josh last night with the family .... #cantbelievehes12" which suggests that the couple went for a meal together.

Paul apparently enjoyed a brief romance with US co-star Marcela Valladolid [Twitter]

The breakdown of Paul and Alexandra's 15-year marriage came earlier this year when the baker was linked to his US co-star Marcela Valladolid.

Paul never actually acknoledged the alleged romance, but he was photographed holidaying in Spain with Marcela and her son in the summer.

According to reports however, Paul ended his fling with the pretty brunette in early September, and he may now be concentrating on trying to make his marriage work again.

The 48-year-old proves exactly why she was one of the highest earning 'supers' of the 1980s as she posed for a series of photographs for the latest issue of RED magazine.

Wearing designers such as Giorgio Armani, Stella McCartney and Phillip Lim, the brunette simply smoulders in front of the camera.

In one shot, which was taken by photographer Jonty Davis, Yasmin can be seen showing off her slender pins in a cream, cable knitted jumper.

Another image shows her staring down the camera's lens as she models her slim figure in a skintight black dress that features a sheer panel around the middle, which exposes her toned midriff.

Despite being a mother of three daughters, Yasmin has still managed to maintain the body that contributed to her successful modelling career.

However, she did admit that it's not all plainsailing at home when you have three teenage children - and revealed that she's often been reduced to tears by her girls Amber, Tallulah and Saffron.

"All I can say is brace, brace… It’s when the shoulders keep coming up," she told the magazine. "Every time you walk into a room, the shoulders come up. It’s actually hysterical to begin with, then it stops being hysterical quite soon. I found it very difficult, I really did. I found myself crying every day.

"I felt very sorry for them, too – equally you can see them going through a lot of pain – but there is nothing like it, nothing comes close to how your children can hurt you, it’s extraordinary.

"But I had it down to a fine art, I could cry really quickly," she added. "Not spend hours wallowing. I could do it in five minutes, tops: get it all out, then I could move on."

Yasmin gave her daughter Amber some very good advice when she began modelling [WENN]

Amber, 24, has actually followed in her mother's footsteps and is now a well-known fashion model herself - and of course Yasmin had some good advice for her daughter.

"Have respect for people. It’s the same advice I would give her for life," Yasmin explained. "Never judge too quickly, be respectful, be kind. Especially when you model. These are people you’ve got to work in a team with, they’ve got to care about you. Why on earth would anyone care about an a***hole?

"You’ve got to show that you have empathy, that you respect them. If you want to get the best out of life and people, have a better experience of everything, that’s my only advice," she added.

Yasmin has been happily married to Duran Duran front man Simon for almost 28 years now, and admits that she lets him trash the kitchen at their South West London home.

"I’ve spent years cooking, but I don’t call it cooking, I call it feeding," Yasmin said. "So I feed them, it’s fresh, it’s fine, it’s nothing to write home about, but they’re happy with it.

"But Simon’s one of those people that, whatever he decides to do, he does well, so when he cooks something he cooks it really well. Annoying. He doesn’t clean up very well, though… although he’s got a lot better about that. It used to be like a crime scene in the kitchen. That’s years of me being disgruntled afterwards."
